Catching up with Lately

Apologies for putting the blog on the back burner the past couple of months. May was our last “crazy” month, starting with Garrett’s final exams and THE PLAYERS Championship (though we did squeeze in time for a quick maternity photo session to capture the baby bump!).

Less than 36 hours after Tiger’s final putt dropped at TPC Sawgrass, Garrett and I were headed west. We flew directly into Central Oregon to spend a week with family. Actually, we saw both sides of our family, as our trip coordinated with Garrett’s parents and Mom2’s stop at the Wine Down Ranch during their Pacific NW road trip. We spent two nights all together at my parents’ place in Prineville before the Teagues continued onto Washington. We (the men) did a little ranch work, Garrett spent time with his two favorite Aussie Shepards and even did a little hiking!

On Friday, Garrett, Mom and I left for the Valley (ranch speak for Portland) for a weekend in celebration of Tiny Teague. On Saturday, my sister Alia and future sister-in-law Kirstyn teamed up to throw a wonderful baby shower full of family and friends. That party was followed by dinner and some needed catch-up-time with a few high school girlfriends. We also had a chance to spend quality time with my grandparents and see Fr. John at St. Patrick’s Church the next day.

Sunday was spent with my Beyer aunts and cousins, again showered with love, advice and presents for Tiny Teague. For the second day in a row, Garrett was the only guy surrounded by gaggles of women and girls, but he enjoyed seeing everyone who came to celebrate with us. We don’t get a lot of family time, so we both try to take advantage of as much as we can. Plus, he’s really good at making sure all the (delicious) food gets eaten!

We were so blessed by the generosity of our family and friends all weekend, and our suitcases were stuffed to the brim heading back to Jacksonville. I actually told myself I wouldn’t blog about the showers until thank you notes were done, which is partly why it’s taken me so long to get back here!

Author’s Note: we’re still waiting on Tiny Teague to decide if he wants to be a Firecracker baby (July 4), Buckeroo baby (still counts if he comes this weekend, right?), or wait for his own day after Nona (grandma Mary) arrives. Cross your fingers for earlier, rather than later!!

Winter Wonderland

Woke up to a beautiful winter wonderland scene at the Ranch in Prineville, Oregon. If yesterday was all about the White Christmas, today will be a play day with the Beyer family…just as soon as we find snow pants for Garrett!

{postscript} This post didn’t publish earlier today, so I can now report that we used the new *backyard* as our sledding playground for several hours, and plan to do more tomorrow. Photos to come!

Merry Christmas (and Boxing Day!) from the Teagues.

Molalla Farewell Fri-Sat

From the Momma’s Vino Maria’s email:

Well I think Spring might finally be in the air (at least for the rest of this week). So let’s celebrate that along with a couple of other things this weekend.

For those of you who know our family and in particular our oldest daughter Lauren, we are taking this weekend to say goodbye to her. She is embarking on a new adventure that will take her across the US. She just recently accepted a job offer from PGA and will be re-locating to Florida.

She will be at the bar later Friday night and the early part of Saturday night for those who would like to wish her well and find out what she will actually be doing (since her mom still isn’t quite sure). Stop by if you can and say goodbye, she would love to see you all. (Yes, I would!)

Mary is also celebrating her birthday this weekend. Saturday night, 7:00pm, Hank Hirsh & Son will be here to play. They are a Sax & keyboard duo who are absolutely amazing. Since the Sax is one of her favorites, she thought it would be appropriate to have them this weekend.

So, if you’re around Molalla this weekend, please stop by and say hello and goodbye. If you can’t make it to the wine bar, give me a call — I’ll probably stop in at Arrowhead GC, downtown Molalla and other old stomping grounds one last time.

Dream Big, Live Big

Last month, when putting together my Life List, I didn’t include a few more personal, big-dream items. The purpose of the life list was to include things I can work towards or try to make happen. I have other dreams that depend on a lot more than just me to fulfill. One of these, I’m very happy to announce, is coming true.

Wow. It’s cool enough that it deserves it’s own line. The PGA Tour is an organization I’ve always admired and loved, and one that I’ve always kept an eye on for a chance to become a part of. An opportunity came across their job postings that fit me well and I threw in my application, because you never know unless you try. Fast forward a couple months through lots of emails, phone calls and a great trip across the country to see the HQ and Jacksonville, Florida, and now I’m moving in two weeks. Wow.

The position is Social Media and Fan Outreach Coordinator in the PGATOUR.COM (“dot-com”) department. Someday I’ll come up with an easy-to-understand one-sentence explanation of what that means. Basically, it’s going to incorporate my skills in PR and Communications, my knowledge of online tools and user experience, and my love of golf all at once. (For more about what social media is all about, follow along on my other blog.)

Yes, it was quick. Yes, I’m sad to leave behind home, family, friends, a great job, a terrific network in Corvallis, my Blazers and the Beavs, no sales tax and lots of good memories. (No, I won’t miss the rain.) But yes, this is my dream and I am lucky enough to get to live it, now.

This blog will probably continue to evolve into all about my life, my travels and new experiences. What’s great about that is this can be a place my family, friends (and other people who care) can come, read about what I’m up to, see pictures and video and have conversations with me. It’s like the weekly emails from college, except they’ll all be in one spot (and not cluttering your inbox!). So make sure to bookmark this site ( and/or subscribe to the RSS feed to get my updates.

More to come soon, but I wanted to make sure this announcement wasn’t more overdue than it already is. Talk to you all soon. Leave love in the comments if you’d like!
